Spanish Joke of the Week

THE JOKE IN SPANISH

¿Por qué un tonto que comía siempre en un mismo lugar ahora come en el restaurante de enfrente?

Porque su dentista le dijo “mientras le arreglo la muela coma del otro lado”.

DENTISTA
Dentista (Dentist) is one of the words that does not change its ending to a masculine or feminine form.
Normally you will say abogado (male lawyer) and abogada (female lawyer)
The O usually refers to a male and A a female.

However, with the profession Dentista, it doesn’t change. We don’t say dentisto for a male dentist. You DO change the article before the noun though (which makes it clear whether we are talking about a man or woman)

El dentista = male dentist
La dentista = female dentist

POR QUÉ vs PORQUE

Por qué es used to make a Why question. If the question starts with Por qué then the response normally begins with Porque. Much like in English where if a question begins with Why, the answer usually starts with Because.

  • ¿Por qué estás triste? Why are you sad?
Porque perdí mi gato. Because I lost my cat.

¿Te gusta ir al dentista?
Do you like going to the dentist?
